Emmy Recap

If you know anything about me, then you know that I love and watch WAY too much television. For this reason The Emmy awards are like Christmas to me. I love being so invested in characters and stories that I literally jump up and down and scream when the shows and actors are recognized for bringing these characters and stories to life. Here are some of my highs and lows from last nights telecast.

First off, I'm going to start with the most important thing. The fashion! Here are some of my favorite looks from the evening. (I don't like to do a worst dressed list. No hate on this blog!)

Sofia Vergara. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world (even though she looks a little crazy in this picture) and she's hilarious on Modern Family. I love the color of this dress and the way it hugs her curves without showing off all of her goods.I can't believe she's 39 years old!

Next up is another one of my favorite actresses, Elizabeth Moss. I adore her character on Mad Men and he spunky spirit! I loved the softness of this dress and the shear arms.
Another one of my best dressed was Aubry Plaza from Parks and Rec. I don't watch this show and the only thing I've seen Aubry in was Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, but she def stood out to me on the red carpet. This pictures doesn't really show off the dress like I'd like it to but I love the ruffles at the top and her soft waves. Very old Hollywood!

Last on my list was Lena Headey. Her dress was a simple black, long-sleeved lace number that really wasn't anything special. However, she's just so beautiful and unique looking that she makes anything look phenomenal. Gorgeous.

Onto my favorite and least favorite parts of the actual ceremony. The most exciting, unexpected win for me was Peter Dinklage as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for his role as Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones. GOT had a ton of hype surrounding it when it premiered in April. Having read the book I was really looking forward to watching the show. The show overall was a good show, but did not live up to the hype. However, Peter Dinklage was fantastic and is extremely deserving of the Emmy. Another plus, he thanked his dog sitter in his acceptance speech. Too cute.

Another highlight was Ty Burell's acceptance speech. It was incredibly heartfelt while being laugh-out-loud funny. I'm not complaining about the Modern Family sweep because while the show definitely fell into a sophomore slump in season 2, it was still leaps and bounds better than every other comedy nominated for Emmys. Had Community been nominated I might be singing a different tune, but it wasn't. Oh well.
Congrats Ty!

There is a lot of hate on there on the interest about The Lonely Island medley. I thought it was hilarious and the Michael Bolton Jack Sparrow song is one of my all time favorite SNL bits. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please watch this video

Moving on to my least favorite parts of the evening:
- Charlie Sheen's public apology. It was just plain awkward.
- The continued shameless plugging of Charlie's Angels
- The Emmytones. What was the point? Why did you agree to this, Joel McHale
- January Jones' absence from the red carpet. She just had a baby.

Finally, my absolute least favorite award moment was Steve Carell's monster snub in the Best Lead Actor in a Comedy category. In the six years he was on The Office he never won an Emmy. While there were times when I had a love/hate relationship with Michael Scott, Steve Carell did such an amazing job with that character and deserved recognition. Boo on dropping the ball there Emmys.
You're the winner in my heart, Steve!
