Yuck

I had a pretty relaxing weekend but apparently someone in my apartment complex had a little too much fun. I took Reggie out Saturday morning and found a whole-lot-a throw up. Everywhere. And not the funny pumpkin kind. I lived at party city, a.k.a The Southern Edge for 4 years and never had the joy of running into throw up. Now I live in what's practically a retirement home and this is what I get to wake up to. No thank you. Get your act together kids!

Anyway, sorry for a gross post. Hope the pumpkin gets you in the mood for some good, fall fun!

New News

Today was the first day back at school, and to start the year off right I decided to spruce a few things ups.

I headed to Auburn last weekend because I needed to take care of a few errands before things in T-town got too crazy. First off I got a late b-day present and it was an exciting one....

New Tires!
(okay, so they're not exciting but they are practical.)
(Doesn't Mojo look cute sitting the the parking lot. That Mercedes ain't got nothin' on you!)

In a surprising turn of events, my next new news is that I got a new phone! I thought I was going to have to wait for a few months until my contract was up for renewal but my dad is a master negotiator and helped me out on this one. Yay Dad! It's fancy pants.

Next on the New news list, Reggie! He's not new but he did have to go to the vet, so he deserves some recognition. Besides, he's just too cute.

And now for the biggest New news.....
I'm a brownie (sort of) now! I decided to go back to my natural color, which turns out is kind of a reddish, brownish, dirty blonde. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and finally got the nerve to go through with it and I love it!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Wednesday!

I need better shoes.

I got back for NYC yesterday with two new truths:
1. I could maybe live in the city, but only for a little while. I think I'm a little too directionally challenged and I don't know about the cold weather. But I love the vibe and how there is ALWAYS something to do. A big improvement over good ole' T-Town.
2. I need to invest in some comfortable/cute shoes. All my "cute" shoes that I packed for the trip were little sandals with ZERO support. My feet are very angry with me. Yikes!

Anyway, here are some pictures from the weekend. If you've ever traveled with Sofy, you know she takes a MILLION pictures! I look tired and sweaty in most of them so just please ignore that and enjoy the scenery and stories.

I arrived at the Solomon's precious NYC abode at around 10:30 where the picture taking began before we headed out to brunch. Their apt was very cute and New Yorky (read: tiny kitchen but fun views! It was actually a great sized apartment) We weren't ready for this picture, and I love it!

At bunch. Don't let my face fool you, the food was fantastic and we had bottomless mimosas for $6!

Next, we headed to Riverside park. For those of you "You've Got Mail" fans, this is the park where Meg and Tom finally meet at the end of the movie. So Sweet!

Another YGM location, Zabar's Grocery store. The "Cash Only" line. I'm making this ridiculous face because I have an unnatural obsession for cheese and Zabar's has the largest cheese selection in the world. I was a little overwhelmed. I think I scared Sofy a little...

Saturday night, Sofy and I trekked out to Brooklyn to a fantastic dance party at a club called SouthPaw. It was my dream dance situation. The DJ played fantastic dance music and everyone was there to just dance. No one was bumping and grinding, we were all just boogying down! It was so much fun! I was unable to keep my eyes open against the ridiculously bright flash of the camera.

On Sunday we started off the day by heading down to the west village for some FANTASTIC pizza. It was super thin crust with fresh tomatoes, garlic and basil. Perfect!

We spent the rest of the day wandering around this precious neighborhood and chilling in cute parks.

Then we went grocery shopping. At three different stores. Excessive? Of course! But we had to get the best of what each store had to offer in order to make a delicious dinner out of snacks! The buggy had its own escalator in Trader Joe's

Bags from our 3 stores!

The Spread! Fresh french bread, three kinds of cheese, hummus and carrots, sweet potato tortillia chips (yum!!) and salsa, and Trader Joe's power berries (if you have a TJ's near you, stop reading this now and go buy some power berries. Now. Do it.)

The only time we ventured to Time Square, or really any touristy area for that matter.

We went there to see Billy Elliot! The children in this musical will make you feel good about the future of musical theater. And also really jealous that you are a 23 years old dancer and are not even close to the level of a 12 year old.

On Monday, Helen finally got to join us for a beautiful walk through Highline park. It's a new park that was built on abandoned railroad tracks overlooking Chelsea and the meat packing district. It was a beautiful park and I highly recommend it!

Another shot of the park to give you an idea of the the setting and design.

This is me eating a gigantic cookie from Lavin Bakery. Also highly recommended for your next trip to NYC.

On Monday we ate dinner with Emily after the going to the park. She did not want the moment captured and was annoyed by Sofy's picture taking. We had an interesting experience in customer service here, but that's another story for another time. This post is way too long!

Finally, to wrap it all up, we went to a rock and roll karaoke! It was insane! All of the participants were regulars of this bar and do this karaoke every Monday night. They had a (very loud) live band and backup singers. It was legit! This particular gentleman wan a 60+ year old judge who was rocking out to "Rockin' Robin". It was hilarious and wonderful!

Sorry for the ridiculously long post. I promised you pictures, and you got pictures! I had a wonderful time and cannot thank Sofy and Helen enough for hosting me. I can't wait to come back again and play!

Freeze Frame

It's August, which means...

This is the last week of my internship (Yay! I enjoyed my internship, but I'm ready for it to be over)
I'm going to NYC this weekend! (Super Yay!)
School starts this month (Boo)
1 Month until football (Yay!)

So, the cell phone is officially kaput, and a new one is on the way. I'm going to have to start using my actual camera more because my new phone will not have the same awesome cameraing (I know it's not a word) ability of my old one. I'm taking my real camera to New York and PROMISE to take lots of pictures!

With the camera situation still stinky, I had to ask Clay to snap this beauty for me when we were watching SYTYCD last week. I don't know if any of you watch So You Think You Can Dance but if you don't, you should. Period. End of story. Do it. Wednesday night at 7 cst. It's the best competition show on television. The level of talent on the show is out of this world. If you don't believe me watch this....

Ah! So good! Anyway,  back to my picture. We had to pause the show (I don't remember why. It was probably Reggie's fault) and unfortunately for the otherwise beautiful Aussie, Cat Deely, this is how her face froze.

Poor thing. But I have to admit, I love it when I get a funny pause on a movie or TV show.

Later Gators!
